Camping, Hiking & Jeep Trips
Because of the distances involved, most hiking trips are combined with a Jeep or off road vehicle excursion, making the most of your travel and vacation time. We can rent camping equipment to you if you need it. We can also provide meals, and for overnight and multi-day trips, it’s best that we provide meals since our guides are all set up to do that for you.

Guided Hiking Trips in Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park provide a chance to see the parks up close and with all the logistics taken care of. Several months out of the year, we offer great hiking trips from short to long and overnights.

Day hikes of a few hours, to overnight and longer trips, the desert is beautiful. We can handle small groups or large ones, and we can handle all the details, or set you up with tents, stoves, etc, and help you plan out a trip, with drop off and pickup.

There are not many easy hikes in the Big Bend region, but the rewards are the amazing sights and scenery that you’ll experience. Wear good quality hiking boots, long pants, loose-fitting long sleeve shirt and a broad-brimmed hat. Hiking sticks are also recommended, every extra bit of help in this terrain is welcomed.

Water
Camelbacks or other bladder-style drinking packs are highly recommended, staying well-hydrated is the secret to having a pleasant hike. Even in winter, you’ll want to have plenty of water and sunscreen.

Rock Art
The Trans-Pecos region of Texas has the highest concentration of ancient cave and rock art than anywhere in the Americas, one of our specialties is hiking to these areas. Very few sites are easily accessible so be prepared for a rugged hike. Some of these areas are on private ranches, some additional fees may apply, but some of the most interesting sites are on these private lands.

Hidden Springs
Other hikes of interest are the numerous springs and waterfalls that lie hidden in the desert backcountry. These areas will seemingly appear out of nowhere in a barren desert, and then you enter a cool shaded area with flowing water, towering trees, birdsong and a variety of plants that only grow in these riparian zones.

Hiking and Camping and Having Fun
Be honest and up-front with your physical condition and skill level, it’s not fun for you or the guide if you gas out before reaching our goals. Also, figure out your group dynamic, we can only hike as fast as the slowest person in the group. For overnite or multi-day hikes we can provide tents, sleeping bags, pads, cookware, etc. for a modest rental fee. As with our other trips, we can tailor a trip to your needs, together we can plan out the best activities.

ATTIRE
For all activities we recommend long-sleeve shirts, sunglasses and a broad-brimmed hat unless activities require a helmet. Long pants are recommended on hikes and climbs to protect from brush and thorns, and spare socks are good to carry with for all activities. Shorts and/or a swim suit are good to keep with if taking a refreshing dip in a desert spring or other water source is desired.
