SPRING/SUMMER HEAT ADVISORY
Please be aware that from mid-May till late September the Big Bend experiences it’s highest temps, high 90’s up to 110 degrees. Rainstorms can alleviate these temps, and the nights can still be tolerable.

During these months we focus our activities on driving tours, river trips, and some shorter hikes at the higher elevations.

On river trips it is essential that swimwear or suitable clothing be worn, with light fabric long sleeve shirts, to facilitate frequent dips into the river to cool off. On days of extreme heat we may shorten activities/trips for safety reasons. Hiking or mountain biking must be done as early as possible and concluded prior to temps exceeding 90-95 degrees, or not attempted at all.

PLEASE BE HONEST AND REALISTIC IN ASSESSING YOUR PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION.
